We are part of something much bigger than ourselves.

Cru is a student group on campus but Cru is something much bigger than you may realize.

When Bill and Vonette Bright first launched Campus Crusade for Christ as a campus ministry in 1951, the underlying concept was to “win the campus today and change the world tomorrow.” More than 50 years later, the mission remains the same.

Today, the campus ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ is a network of vibrant, growing movements on 1,029 campuses in the United States and beyond. Proven and diverse outreach strategies expose millions of students to the gospel each year. Over the past five years, more than 37,900 students made a decision to become a Christian.

The mission of Campus Crusade for Christ is to turn lost students into Christ centered laborers. Our spiritual mandate is found in Matthew 28:18-20.
What we do, is look for the “catalyst” on a specific campus – a key student, a church partnership, a professor – who can help launch and lead the ministry OR we become one of those catalysts.

Our purpose then at WCU is to reach this campus by launching and growing spiritual movements all over the campus using contextualized ministries and ethnic ministries to the end that we would be able to raise up laborers who will help us reach the 2,000,000 students in the Mid-Atlantic Region and the 7,000,000 students in the US. Not to mention the other 6.5 billion people in the world.

There are about 12,800 students enrolled at WCU
9,000 of them roughly live here on campus, the rest commute and/or are graduate students.
200+ students involved are currently in our movements
There were ten small group bible studies last year with an average of 7-13 in each study
20 students are on a summer project this year
We have 6 student directors/interns, multiple students eager to be discipled
